The latest trend in interior design for 2017 is getting the ‘Concrete look’. Not only because of the way it looks but also the fact that it can be used in many different areas of a house or building. At applicArt we have seen a huge increase in enquiries from people wanting the ‘Concrete look’ so we thought we would put this blog together to give you some more information on how you can imitate the look with the added extras of versatility and cleanliness.
This is where we introduce you to Marmorino plaster, specifically for the concrete look, Marmorino Venezia Beton. Venezia Beton is a mixture of particular selected marble powders mixed with other mineral ingredients, lime & various additives. It was employed centuries ago to create important villas & palaces. Today it has been re-proposed by applicArt in a modern version which uses ancient formulas and is made with modern technologies.
In the above image, we have applied the Marmorino Venezia Beton, as you can see from the image this finish has a slight texture, enhancing the real concrete look. Also in the image, you can see some DeCorten Rust columns, paired together with the Marmorino Venezia Beton we think this gives a real industrial look.
These formulas and technologies mean Marmorino plasters look incredible. They can be made to look both natural and modern. Waxing can give off a marbleised shine and other techniques can make it rough like concrete.
As well as being great to look at Marmorino is also the most versatile of the Italian plasters, making it easy to apply on various surfaces, while still giving off the amazing concrete look.
In the images below we have applied Marmorino Venezia Pasta Media, this has been applied to a counter/till work surface to create the concrete look, however unlike the Marmorino Venezia Beton, this polished plaster finish has a smooth texture and has a slight shine to it.
The versatility and the range of styles mean Marmorino plaster is great for both interior and exterior options. Its waterproofing and antibacterial qualities help with this.
Marmorino is one of our most popular styles of polished plaster and you can see some of the latest work we have done across all areas and styles below.
So what makes Marmorino better than other options?
The short answer is the durability and versatility, it can be used in more places than other options and is especially good in wet areas like exteriors, bathrooms and pool areas. The marble in Marmorino also enables the plaster to be polished and waxed to create a shine look in various different colours.
ApplicArt offers Marmorino plaster in various different textures and colours across 6 individual styles: Venezia Travertino, Venezia, Venezia Beton, Naturale, Pasta Media and Tintoretto. Each style is different and can be used in addition with one another. You can get a more in-depth look at each style by clicking one of the names above.
