After a great start to the year, we wanted to look at what the interior trends will be for 2017. We have looked at what others have said and added in our personal views. We are hoping for 2017 to be the year we really start to see concrete become popular in the domestic market.

What’s in?

Micro cement / Concrete

Floor

Giving a room a natural look, as well as benefits of levelling, cleanliness and protection. Not only a great look but also very good within high-traffic areas, meaning it is useful in courtyards, hallways and offices. We have seen an increase in the number of enquiries we have around micro-cement floors this year if you want to find out more click here.

Walls

Although concrete is in this year, double concrete isn’t, so its walls or floor I’m afraid. The benefits of wall concrete can include added insulation, cleanliness and the great modern natural looks. You can get this look for a relatively low price with ApplicArt as we specialise in producing various different finishes from our polished plaster, therefore, we can give you the concrete look with quick application and low cost.

Furniture

At the end of 2016 we started to see concrete looking garden furniture but already this year we are seeing this trend expand into concrete kitchen chairs, tables and lamp fittings. Lots are starting at a premium price marks with simple chairs being priced at around £400.

Below are some of the examples we have seen so far.

Various shades of grey

Grey is the new black, it’s becoming the ‘in’ colour for every room in the house. The concrete look gives this a more natural edge. This is where ApplicArts polished plaster comes in, with various shades of grey we can incorporate into your home for that modern concrete look.

Textures

Whether its fabric on walls, or cork in an office, various textures are in this year. We love the look of cork on a wall and it also comes in handy when you need to stick up posters, notices or ornaments. Below you can see the example of an in-house office with Cork walls and concrete floor, this looks great together. We can create great looking concrete floors to compliment any room with our Easyfloor product.

What’s no longer on trend?

Geometric tiles, reclaimed wood and white on white kitchens are on their way out for 2017. Expect to see more raw types of textures and patterns coming in over the next 12 months a very exciting year for interior design.

So what will you be doing in your house this year to make it look better, will you be including the more natural look? Adding micro cement flooring? Polished plaster? Contact us here to find out how we can help.
